very n. california, right? except for the beautiful spanish mansions in the countryside, much closer than they appear.
my host family lives in a collection of beautiful apartments. tonight i am staying in a two-bedroom apartment on the top floor which is “almost always empty” before i move into the son’s room, after he leaves for high school in connecticut. i think that my host mother’s sibling’s new german nanny who just graduated from college will be staying in this apartment all year long, so i am pretty happy.
